Community as the foundation of human life
Community is not an addition to individual life. It is the social ground on which language, identity, knowledge, freedom and human development can emerge at all.

Freedom and equality as a common ideal
Freedom and equality are not opposites. Equality makes freedom real for everyone; freedom protects equality from becoming uniformity or domination.

Control as a tool, never as a master
Freedom is the normal condition. Collective control may be used only in genuine emergencies, for a clear purpose and under conditions that compel its own dissolution.

Human beings as adaptable and cooperative
People are neither immutably selfish nor automatically solidaristic. Which possibilities emerge depends decisively on the behaviours a society rewards and practises.

Federated self-government of free communities
Political freedom requires local self-determination, while an interconnected world also requires cooperation. Federation connects both without turning coordination into domination.
